Art, Music & History this weekend

Twilight $2 Thursdays lets you have fun at Marbles Kids Museum after hours every Thursday for only $2 admission! While you are there, bring new or gently used children"s books to donate to their WAKE Up and Read Book Drive.

The 2nd Friday ArtWalk takes place in Carrboro & Chapel Hill on the second Friday of every month. Venues offer live music, food, activities, hands-on art demonstrations, discounts, and more.

Friday night at the NC Museum of Art makes a great date night with Iris after Dark.

Come and enjoy Russian culture and experience the unique folk and ethnic heritage of this part of the world for the fourth year at the Halle Cultural Arts Center on Saturday. There will be Music, Dance, Performances, Food - Shashlik, Blini, Olivie, Borsch, Children Activities, Russian & Armenian Dance Workshops, and a Dance & Pizza Party.

Join Wah Lum Kung Fu of Raleigh and the Confucius Institute of NC State as they celebrate Chinese New Year Sunday at the Lake Lynn Community Center! This free event for all ages will have kung fu demos, lion dancing, and games and activities the whole family will enjoy.

The North Carolina Museum of History will be holding an African American History Highlights Tour on Saturday to highlight some of the contributions made by African Americans to North Carolina history. Come back Sunday afternoon to enjoy Donna Washington, author, storyteller, and performing artist.

The Monday morning movie at the Holly Springs Cultural Center will be Finding Nemo.

Looking for a bargain? New clothes, toys and other children's items will be offered all weekend at discounted prices during the Kids Exchange Consignment Sale at the Fairgrounds.

More to do at the Parks

Take a Winter Wander Saturday with the whole family at Blue Jay Point County Park and make a winter plant collage while learning about critters that depend on those plants for their winter habitat needs.

Adults are invited to get out of the house and have fun on a Saturday afternoon testing out some unique Nature-Themed Board and Card Games at Blue Jay Point.

Take a Walk in the Woods Saturday at Crowder County Park and discover the animals and plants that call the park home as you help collect data for their Natural Resource Inventory Database and other citizen science projects.

Crowder County Park invites you to celebrate Happy Valentine's Day, Mother Nature on Sunday. Make a few homemade valentine presents for their feathered friends including a nesting ball and a bird feeder. Then create a card from natural objects to give to a special someone while eating a Valentine"s Day snack.

Sunday's Winter Hike at West Point on the Eno will explore the Pump Station Trail. join them for a 1.5 mile stroll to see Durham's first public drinking water source. You will pass building foundations and dams hiding in the woods, river, and creek.

Sunday at Prairie Ridge Ecostation for Wildlife Learning they will be exploring Winter on the Prairie and what animals do in winter.

Get a jump start on Valentines Day starting Tuesday and running through Thursday at Historic Yates Mill County Park. Join them for some Valentine's Day arts and crafts and take home your very own valentine tree. On Saturday, learn about the Legends of Saint Valentine.

Take a Lovers' Night Hike Wednesday evening at Durant Nature Park. This 16+ program will feature luminary lined trails for a romantic stroll and then a campfire with s'mores, hot cocoa, and cider.
