Wake County Parks, Recreation and Open Space participates in Take A Child Outside (TACO) Week each year by offering free outdoor programs at different Wake County Parks!

TACO week occurs annually the week of September 24-30, and is a program developed by the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences to get children outdoors to discover the natural world around them. The goal of TACO week is to help children to understand and appreciate the environment in which they live and to have fun exploring nature!   There are still spaces available for TACO week programs at Lake Crabtree!

Spider Safari

Turn your arachnophobia into arachnophilia! Discover how amazing spiders are, and turn your fear into appreciation.  We will search the park for webs and the spiders that made them.  Learn about the variety of spiders found in North Carolina, how to identify them, and how they help us and the environment.
