In April of 1865, general Johnston met with general Sherman to surrender his confederate forces and end the civil war. The home of James and Nancy Bennett was where the two generals met to discuss the terms of surrender. This year"s event will showcase the role of the us colored troops. there will be special guided tours of the home, lectures by noted historians, as well as both soldiers and civilians on site to discuss how the end of the civil war impacted them.
