Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC): Backyard Bird Basics

Lake Crabtree and Black Creek Greenways (Trails)
Lake Crabtree County Park. Saturday, February 18th 12pm–3pm. This program is FREE and doesn't require preregistration.

The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is an annual four-day event that encourages bird watchers of all ages and skill levels to count birds and report their results online to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. The data collected gives useful information to scientists, which enables them to better evaluate fluctuations in bird populations.

Stop by the Managers Office for a variety of bird-related games, activities and crafts. We will talk about ways to attract birds to your outdoor space, and how to identify common backyard birds. Participants can learn bird calls, make suet, help count birds at the park feeder, and more! This event is FREE and has something for everyone, adults and kids alike! Stop by for a few minutes or stay for the entire time. No preregistration required.
