Persian New Year starts on the 1st day of the Spring. Traditionally Persians celebrate the last Tuesday night of the year which is called Chaharshanbe-Souri or the Wednesday Feast. It is a prelude to Norooz, which marks the arrival of spring. The event is sponsored by the Iranian Cultural Society of North Carolina. www.icsnc.org
