Cary"s Downtown Park (319 S. Academy St.) The recently-completed “Town Square” portion of Cary"s Downtown Park is a jewel in the crown of Downtown"s revitalization. A true urban park, the new space anchors the corner of South Academy Street and Kildaire Farm Road, across from Cary Arts Center. The centerpiece of the park is a stunning, lighted fountain. Truly a community gathering place, Town Square offers space for musical performances, outdoor movies, recreation, games, public art and simply enjoying the outdoors. Features Lighted fountain Open green space Performance green and stage area Benches Public art Movable tables and chairs Bocce ball court Table tennis Foosball Checker and chess tables Downtown Cary runs North - South along North and South Academy Streets between Chapel Hill Road on the North side and Dry Avenue on the South side. There are several Green open spaces located in Downtown Cary primarily at the Town Hall Campus on the north side and the Public Library on the south side. Each Green open space provides a park setting for visitors to downtown. When school is not in session there is a playground and open fields on the south end of downtown Cary at the Cary Elementary Campus. Academy Street will be closed to traffic during arts festivals and parades, creating a larger public gathering space.
