Park Description
Hagan-Stone Park is a scenic 409-acre campground, wildlife refuge, and outdoor recreation facility. Visitors can enjoy year-round camping, complete with wooded and open sites for trailers, RVs, and tents. Group camping sites can be reserved for organized groups of up to 40 people. There are eight miles of trails for those who enjoy walking, biking, hiking or nature study. Each summer, the Camp Joy Activity Center is used as the day camp site for special populations, June through August. The Activity Center may be reserved late August through May, as the perfect site for corporate retreats and family reunions. Park features include: - Reconstructed 18th Century one-room schoolhouse
- Six handicapped accessible picnic shelters with grills
- Two softball fields, two volleyball courts, horseshoe pits
- Nature, hiking and mountain bike trails
- 70 trailer/RV camp sites, 16 tent sites, two group sites
- Swimming pool, day camps (summer), three playgrounds
- 5K and 8K cross-country course (hosts state and national high school and collegiate meets)
- Interpretive programs (available upon request)
- "Dog Daze" bike rally in August
- Approximately two miles from Cross, NC bike route
- Four stocked fishing lakes, including one 23-acre lake (no fee)
Hours of Operation: Park is open daily from 8 am to sunset, weather permitting.
