Park Description

The cornerstone of the Apex Parks system is the 160-acre Community Park located between Laura Duncan Road and Lake Pine Drive. This facility currently includes 3 ballfields, 2 batting cages, 2 soccer fields, 3 sand volleyball courts, 6 tennis courts, 4 basketball courts (1 is fenced for roller hockey), a child"s playground (ages 2-12), concession and restroom facilities, over 2 miles of developed nature and fitness trails, picnic areas for corporate and family events (for rental information and forms, contact the Community Center), and outdoor courts for tennis and basketball. Also included in the park is a 50+ acre lake. Non-Residents (those living outside the corporate limits) must purchase a Town of Apex fishing permit in order to fish from the bank area or from their boats. Canoes, kayaks, john boats (not exceeding 14 ft in length) and rowing skulls are allowed on the lake and must be launched from the designated launch site only. Those wishing to obtain fishing and boating permits for Apex Community Park Lake, should contact the Apex Community Center at 249-3402. Swimming and wading are strictly prohibited on the lake.

Apex Community Park Boating Permits : Boat permits are available at the Apex Community Center. Permits are restricted to canoes, kayaks, john boats less than 14 ft. in length, and rowing skulls only. Electric trolling motors are also permitted. Launch is permitted from designated area only and all boats must be hand carried to the launch area. Permits are only good for 12 months from the day they are issued and should be replaced on an annual basis. Permits must be prominently displayed on all boats when they are on Apex Community Park Lake. For more information and rental forms, contact the Apex Community Center at 249-3402.
