The cooler temperatures may move back in this weekend, but whether you choose to bundle up and enjoy the fall color or have your fun indoors, there is plenty to do in the Triangle.

First Friday

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is teeming with activities this First Friday. This month's Natural Horror Picture will be the 1931 classic Dracula starring Bela Lugosi. Before the movie, you can enjoy live music and an opening reception for artist Robert Johnson. Also Friday, the Teen Science Cafe will explore The Science Behind the Sniff: What Does the Dog's Nose Know? The NC Entomological Society will also be at the Museum giving talks and displaying bugs. Tickets to their special exhibit, Birds of Paradise will be Buy One Adult ticket and get a Second Free from 5pm-7pm. All you teachers are invited to an Teacher Open House for an evening overview of all the NC Museum of Natural Sciences has to offer teachers

Also Downtown, First Friday events will be featured at the Raleigh City Museum, Marbles Kids Museum and throughout the city on a Gallery Tour.
 
Head on over to Raleigh's City Market Friday night where the Chris Hendricks Band will be performing some of the hits off their new album, "Meant to Survive".
Art in the Evening is back at the North Carolina Museum of Art with tunes by the Hey Brothers. While you are browsing the galleries, join in on a Gallery Tour or stay to watch the 1934 flick, Heat Lightning.
 
Bass Lake Park invites you to join them for Family Fun Night. Start the night with arts & crafts, live animals and fishing. End the evening with a concert with interactive kid favorite, Trish Miller or a magic show with Dan the Magic Man.
 
Festivals & Fun at the Museums

Pack a picnic lunch and some scarecrow accessories Saturday morning and head on over to the Pullen Art Center for the annual Scarecrow Festival.

The North Carolina Museum of Art invites you to take a Meet Your Museum Tour on Saturday to learn all about their 164-acre campus, two buildings, amphitheater, park, and several gardens.
 
Make a ribbonwork bookmark and learn about this popular way for many American Indians to decorate their powwow regalia during a Make It, Take It program Saturday afternoon at the North Carolina Museum of History.
 
Historic Yates Mill Pond County Park wants you to get inspired by making a Cornucopia of Carolina Goodness on Sunday. They will also be offering Old Mill Tours on Saturday and Mill Heritage & Local History Tours on Sunday.
 
For the 25th consecutive year, 400-500 handbell ringers from several States come together for two days of ringing and learning for the Capital Area Handbell Festival. You won't want to miss their final concert on Saturday afternoon.
 
Join them at the City of Raleigh Museum the first Saturday of every month for Raleigh Reads. The free program includes various visits from authors and readings, finishing with crafts and snacks. This month's featured book will be Blue by Joyce Hostetter.
 
Join them for the 4th annual Guy Fawkes Night Saturday in Downtown Raleigh. Live music, food, drinks, fire performers, entertainment, and more.
 
The State Fair is over, but the fun at the Fairgrounds continues this weekend with a Horse Show.

Enjoy Fall at the Parks

November is Pecan Pickin' Month at Historic Oak View County Park. Feel free to come on out and harvest a few pecans for yourself from their grove of pecan trees. While your there, explore the Farm History Center, the Plank Kitchen, the Restored Home and Cotton Barn. You can also pick up your raffle ticket for the quilt and help raise funds to restore their Tenant Farmer's Home.

Kick off November early Saturday with some Birding with Vernon. Lake Crabtree's resident bird enthusiast will guide you on one of his monthly walks. Lake Crabtree also invites you to become a backyard scientist! Project Feeder Watch is a winter-long survey of birds that visit feeders at backyards, nature centers, community areas, and other locales in North America. Sunday
afternoon, adults are invited to go on a Lake Trail Hike that will explore the entire circumference of the lake.
 
Enjoy a Fun Fall Hayride at Harris Lake County Park Saturday as they travel the back roads of the park.
 
Join a Jordan Lake Ranger Saturday afternoon for a Canoe Paddle. Come back Sunday to view the Bald Eagles of Jordan Lake.
 
Join them at Prairie Ridge Ecostation Saturday morning to learn how you can be a part of a Citizen Science Project. They will also be taking Photography for Science on Saturday afternoon.
 
Enjoy the Fall Colors and Fruits at Historic Yates Mill Pond Saturday for a Natural Explorations Hike.
