 It's St Patrick's Day, so put on your green and get to Downtown Raleigh Saturday for the St. Patrick's Day Parade. After the parade, make your way over to City Plaza for the Wearin' O' the Green Festival. Marbles Kids Museum will also join in on the festivities with themed activities like Rainbow Experiments, Clover Creations and Leprechaun Freeze Dance. Listen to Irish music, read leprechaun stories and build your own leprechaun trap to help the Rangers at Historic Yates Mill County Park catch Leprechauns Sunday afternoon.


Festivals
 

Saturday is Reptile and Amphibian Day at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences! This year's theme is Salamanders and there promises to be plenty of live reptiles and amphibians along with hands on activities, lectures and displays.

Saturday also brings the annual Raleigh Tamale Festival to Peach Road Community Center. The event celebrates the Hispanic culture through the tamale competition, soccer scrimmages, food, music, information booths, dancing and games for both kids and adults.
 
Celebrate the 149th Anniversary of the Battle of Bentonville both Saturday and Sunday with artillery and infantry demonstrations, period interpreters and an encampment at the Bentonville Battlefield Historic Site.

 

Commemorate Arbor Day in Cary Saturday at the Cary Arts Center Theater for a tree planting ceremony and free tree sapling give away.
 
Fun at the Museums
 
Bring your little ones to Prairie Ridge Ecostation for Wildlife Learning where they tell Nature Stories every Thursday morning. On the second and fourth Tuesdays, you can take a guided exploration of Prairie Ridge as you Walk through the Seasons. This Saturday's Citizen Science Project will share information on the eMammal project and you can even help them move their automatic cameras to their new locations for the month.

Celebrate national Brain Awareness Week Thursday evening at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences with a special brains and behavior themed Science Cafe. You can also grab BOGO tickets to their special exhibit, Birds of Paradise: Amazing Avian Evolution which will close March 23rd. Also on display through March are the 31 winning photographs from the Wildlife in North Carolina magazine photo competition.
 

Head on over to Bass Lake Park Friday night for some Family Bingo.

 

On Friday nights the North Carolina Museum of Art kicks it up a notch featuring lively music by local bands and themed small plates and beverages for Art in the Evening. You are also invited to enjoy a Sound Bite on Water in the Landscape. Follow the fun with the 2005 film, Bluffmaster.
Art After Hours returns to Downtown Wake Forest Friday with food, merchants and music.
 
Learn about life on a North Carolina Family Farm this Saturday at Marbles Kids Museum. Don't forget to bring some new or gently-used books to donate to the WAKE Up and Read Children's Book Drive during the month of March. Enjoy reduced admission and extended hours this week during Target $2 Tuesday Night.
 
The NC State Farmers Market is hosting a Spring Craft Fair all weekend.
Throwing Pots and Words will be the theme of Saturday's pottery demonstration at the North Carolina Museum of History. Come back to the Museum Sunday to see the 2012 PBS film Created Equal: Slavery by Another Name.

 

 

 

The North Carolina based traveling youth piano ensemble, The Piano Performance Team invite you to join them Sunday afternoon for a free concert at the Halle Cultural Arts Center.

Lots Going on at the Fairgrounds
 

Friday and Saturday brings the 2014 FIRST Regional Tournament to the NC State Fairgrounds. Come cheer on 54 teams from across the US. in this high school varsity robotics competition.

Calling all quilters to the Fairgrounds for the Biennial Quilt Show all weekend long. The event boasts over 300 quilts as well as raffle quilts, workshops and demonstrations along with quality vendors for your sewing needs.
 

Spring brings thoughts of exciting trips and vacations. Stop by the North Carolina Dealers Assocation Spring RV Sale all weekend to check out the largest selection of new and used RVs under one roof.

 

The Coastal Paws Cat Club presents the Rally in Raleigh Cat Show at the Fairgrounds with an Allbreed cat show including household pet class judging and feline agility competition. There will also be vendors with cat toys, grooming products, pet supplies and activities for children.
 
The Raleigh Indoor Spring Classic over at the Hunt Horse Complex Thursday through Saturday will be a Hunter Jumper Horse Show.
 
The Persian New Year starts on the 1st day of the Spring. Come to the Fairgrounds Tuesday night for a Persian New Year Celebration.

 

 

 

Next Wednesday kicks off both the Kennel Club Dog Show and the Raleigh Spring Premier Benefit featuring American Saddlebred horses, Roadster horses and ponies, Hackney ponies, Southeast riders and a full Morgan Division.
Spring Comes to the Parks   

Enjoy the sky after dark with a Morehead Planetarium educator Friday evening during an Astronomy Viewing Session at Little River Regional Park.

Historic Yates Mill County Park shares historic trades with visitors through demos and displays each month. Come learn about Soldiers and Militiamen this Saturday.
 

Harris Lake hosts several children's programs each month. This Friday, both 1-3 year olds and 3-5 year olds can come out to learn about Salamanders. Grown ups are invited to check out the Natural Reads Book Club that meets Sunday afternoon.

 

Can You Dig It? this Saturday at William B. Umstead State Park gives you an opportunity to give back to the park.
Eno River State Park will be busy this weekend with Beginning Fishing, a Beginner Birders Hike, Birdwatching, and a program on Water Bugs on Saturday. Sunday brings some Turtle Talk in honor of Durham County Creek Week.
Join Rangers at Falls Lake State Recreation Area Saturday for a hike around Beaverdam to look for Bald Eagles.
 
The PEAK (Promoting Environmental Awareness in Kids) program, Leave No Trace for Kids will be offered this Saturday at the Walnut Creek Wetland Center.

 

 

 

This Sunday's Spring Hike at West Point on the Eno Park will be out to the Willie Duke's Bluff.
