 Here comes another incredible weekend full of fun activities to do throughout the Triangle. With close to 90 events listed this weekend, there is definitely something for everyone. We will hit the highlights here, but check out ParkGeek.com for all the events or LIKE ParkGeek on Facebook so you can get daily ideas and updates.

The fun starts at lunchtime Thursday at the State Farmer's Market in Raleigh. Stop by for Strawberry Day and enjoy free samples, a dessert contest, free recipes and best of all, a huge variety of fresh local strawberries.
 
The first Thursday of the month means its time for Science Trivia at this week's Science Cafe. Come see if you can can gain an edge on your competitors in topics featuring a mix of science facts, current news, pop culture and scientific discoveries.
 
There will be Hawk Watches in Downtown Raleigh Thursday Lunchtime at the Capitol and also Thursday evening at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.
 
The NC Museum of Art invites teachers to join them Thursday for a free STEAM Makers Fair. Come for an after-school interlude exploring STEAM through drop-in, hands-on, creative demonstrations connecting techniques in the visual arts with STEM.
 
Halle Cultural Arts Center will host a Family DanceThursday night complete with a traditional dance caller and a live, old-time string band.
 
First Friday Happenings
 
The A/V Geeks at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences present "Revenge of the Creature," along with live music, an opening reception for April Flanders, $5 tickets to theRainforest Adventure and extended hours throughout the Museum of Natural Sciences and the Nature Research Center.
 
Celebrate First Friday with the Raleigh City Museum, stroll around Downtown Raleigh to take in the First Friday Gallery Walk or head over toMarbles Kids Museum.
 
Cage the Elephant will headline a night of free concerts at Red Hat Amphitheater Friday night. Also in the line up are indie rock bands Foals and J. Roddy Walston and The Business.
 
Art in the Evening returns to the North Carolina Museum of Art with music by the Onyx Club Boys, a discussion on the Challenges of Leadership, and the 1960 French film, Purple Moon.
 
Bring the whole family along with your picnics, blankets, lawn chairs, and pets to enjoy The Back Beat, a Beatles Tribute Band in Downtown Apex Friday night.
 
This month, Saturn and Mercury are visible right after sunset. Come to Historic Yates Mill County Park Friday after dark to check them out.
 
Holly Springs will be celebrating Family Fun Nightat Bass Lake Park. Kick off the evening by making some arts and crafts, meeting a live animal, or borrowing a fishing pole. End the night with a fun interactive concert with kid favorite, Trish Miller or a magic show with Dan the Magic Man.
 
Head to Downtown Cary Friday night for Cary Night Out: Celebrating Safety & Community Unitywith the Cary Police Dept. There will be a crash simulator, police cars of today and yesterday, K9 demonstrations and a Kids Fun Zone.
 
Festivals and Special Events

If you missed Spring Daze in Cary last weekend, you have a chance this weekend to enjoyApex Peakfest. A wonderful variety of crafters and artisans will be on hand displaying their creations while the stages will boast live family entertainment all day. Not only will there be an assortment of yummy festival food, but also a tempting collection of international fare. There will even be a Kids Zone area with rides and games for the younger population.

Strawberries are the theme of a fun family event in Durham. The Strawberry Festival in Durham will be a day long celebration with Music, Dance, Food and Games!

Saturday is Kids Appreciation Day in Holly Springs. Kids are treated to free food along with inflatables, face painting, arts & crafts, music, a motorcycle & fire engine display and the Terrific Kids Ceremony. This years celebration will be held at Sugg Farm Park.

Saturday is the 5th annual Friends of the Page-Walker Herbfest in Cary. Tour the gardens; stroll through booths selling a wide variety of herbs, crafts and garden products; and be there for the butterfly release.

Celebrate Cary comes to Regency Park Saturday with a full day of entertainment, arts & Crafts, kids zone, athletic events and wine & beer tasting.

Downtown Cary will also host En Plein Air Paint the Town Saturday. The streets will come alive as artists take to the streets to Paint the Town!

Meet in the Street is back to downtown Wake Forest. Join them for a day filled with food and entertainment including live music and children's activities.

The Nc State Fairgrounds will be All About Motherhood at Saturday's expo sponsored by Blessed Lockets Enterprise.

Gnomes & Fairies Spring up at Prairie Ridge Saturday to celebrate spring with scavenger hunts , balloon animals, a gnome and fairy village, story time, ladybug hunts and a parade.

Saturday at Nash Square there will be a parade and Memorial Service to honor Fallen Firefighters.

Come downtown Sunday afternoon to enjoy the Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo with over 50 trucks, a bubble zone and street chalk art for the whole family.

Sunday's Carrboro Day & Block Party features music, food, poetry and family fun. The day includes concerts by Mad Affair, a Different Drum and the Paco Band. In addition to the main stage entertainment, the community festival will include additional live music inside Cat's Cradle and The ArtsCenter, food trucks, beer and fun.

Fun at the Parks

The farmer's markets are still celebrating their Grand Openings.Holly Springswill kick off the season this Saturday with plenty of fresh produce. The Growers Market of Fuquay-Varina opens next Saturday with a BBQ, kids activities and live music. The Pig Pickin' Kick Off Event at the Raleigh Downtown Farmers Market was postponed until Wednesday, May 7th.
 
Also starting this Wednesday at Downtown Raleigh's City Plaza, YogaFest will offer free outdoor yoga classes every Wednesday night through June 11th.
 
Durant Nature Park is also hosting an open house Saturday promoting their new Sensory and Natural Play Garden. Drop by the garden to check out the new space and participate in hands-on activities designed to showcase this wonderful new addition to the park.
 
Saturday is Triangle Boating Safety Day at Falls Lake State Recreation Area. Get your boat ready for the summer, get all your safety questions answered, trade for what you need in the life jacket exchange for children and grab some free giveaways.
 
Garner will host a town wide Big Sweep/Litter Sweep. You can help clean up either town streets or Lake Benson to keep Garner beautiful.
 
Saturday's Natural Exploration at Historic Yates Mill Pond will focus on May Flowers through poems and a wildflower search. You can also contribute to a community art project celebrating the spring season of flowers Saturday at the Earth Laughs in Flowers.
 
The State Parks offer a variety of programs from fishing and canoeing to biking and skywatching this weekend. If you are interested in one of their programs, check out Eno RiverJordan Lake orUmstead State Parks.
 
Yates MillHarris Lake and Crowder County Parks all have children's programs this week. Starting at age one and offering programs up through school age, the county parks offer a great way to explore spring.
 
Did you know Monday , May 5th is the beginning of Screen Free Week? Yates Mill County Park invites you to break the screen time cycle with them Monday evening with a night of active nature games.

Saturday is the Robot Rumble at the Museum of Life and Science. Explore the engineering principles behind robotics with hands-on demonstrations, workshops and more!
 
Historic Oak View County Park will be popping the popcorn for a screening of Kit Kittredge: An American Girl on Saturday afternoon.
 
Mordecai Historical Park will be the subject of Art in the Park this Saturday as artists paint the Mordecai House and surrounding properties.
 
John McCutcheon will be delighting an audience Saturday afternoon at Bond Park with his American folk music and multi-instrumental talents.
 
This weekend a number of related organizations will Celebrate Preservation. Come discover how they work to save North Carolina's treasures at the North Carolina Museum of History.
 
Kids K-5th grade are invited to the Holly Springs Cultural Center to celebrate Star Wars Day with fun games and activities Saturday. They will also be showing the film Madagascar Saturday morning.
 
Sunday afternoon, there will be artist's receptions at both Sertoma Arts Center and Pullen Arts Center celebrating some of our local talent.
 
The Six Sundays in Spring Concert Series is back again at Carroll Joyner Park with Walking for Pennies, playing a mix of vocal harmony and elements of folk, soul and bluegrass.
 
Side Car Social Club will be the featured performers for Wednesday night's Hob Nob Jazz Series at Koka Booth Amphitheatre.
