Here comes another amazing Spring weekend just in time for Mother's Day. There are so many fun festivals and special Mother's Day events to choose from this weekend.

You are invited to join the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences Thursday morning to watch First Lady Michelle Obama present the Museum with the IMLS National Medal. They will be streaming the event live in the SECUDaily Planet.
 
This Thursday's Science Cafe at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences is a Poetry Scope, an evening of science through the lens of poetry.
 
The South Carolina Broadcasters will be at the CCB Plaza Thursday night for a "Find Your Cool" Summer Concert.
 
Soul Play will be playing their hybrid blend of classic party, funk, disco, beach, and today's latest hits in Garner for a Downtown Sounds Concert Thursday evening.
 
Thursdays bring Twilight $2 Thursdays to Marbles Kids Museum with extended hours and discounted admission.

Moms Rock this weekend at Marbles Kids Museum! Get tips and tricks for making mom breakfast in bed, create slammin' Mother's Day presents and have fun making Mom feel like a superstar.

Celebrate Mother's Day at the North Carolina Zoo on Saturday with Birds and Blooms. The fun educational event in the Aviary will focus on the mission of International Migratory Bird Day.
 
Learn all about Mama Birds on a special Mother's Day program at Lake Crabtree County Park on Sunday.
 
Bring Mom out to the Eno River State Park at after dark Sunday for MOTH-ers Day Moth ID Night.
 
They are having an afternoon tea party Sunday to celebrate Tea-riffic Moms at Crowder District County Park.
 
Mipso, will be playing their mandolin, bass, guitar along with harmonizing voices for a distinctly modern twist on traditional influences at the Sertoma Amphitheatre Saturday evening.

Saturday at the North Carolina Museum of Art is aFamily Fun Saturday on natural materials and Art Day. You are invited to bring up to three pieces of art for a staff member to help you discover more about your works of art, research the artists, and offer suggestions on how to care for and display.

Join living historians portraying the American soldier who served in the Confederate army during the American Civil War during this Saturday'sConfederate Memorial Day Observance at Bennett Place Historic Site.

The Mad Hatter's Art & Garden Market on the grounds of the Wake Forest Historical Museum will bring together the Art & Garden Market with a vintage car show on Saturday.

Fun Starts Friday

Turtlefest is this Saturday at Bass Lake Park. The festivities start Friday afternoon with the kick off of the Turtlefest Art Contest.

Also at Bass Lake Park Friday night, Family Bingo promises to be a fun night of friendly competition for the whole family.

The North Carolina Museum of Art kicks off the weekend Friday night with Art in the Evening featuring tunes by Ed Stephenson and the Paco Band, a sound bite on Changing the Story and the 1999 movie, The Talented Mr. Ripley starring Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law and Cate Blanchett.

Fuquay will be buzzing Friday night with Art After Dark. The event is organized as a potluck of creativity, with local businesses, organizations, and artists are all encouraged to get involved to help promote and support the Arts in Fuquay-Varina.

Downtown Wake Forest will come alive with food, merchants and music during Friday night's Art After Hours.

Getting Out to the Parks

You early risers are invited to goBirding with VernonSaturday morning at Lake Crabtree.
 
Learn about some of the lore, social history, and practical uses of some of our Native Wildflowers while hiking Pump Station trail on Saturday morning at Eno River State Park. Come back Saturday afternoon to get in the water and capture Water Bugs.
 
C.A.S.T. returns to Jordan Lake Saturday morning to introduce kids to the joys of fishing. Come back Sunday for a Canoe Hike along Robeson Creek and the Haw River.
 
Discovery Days is back to Pullen Park with programs for pre-school and elementary aged children on both the weekends and weekdays. Saturday's program features Animal Adaptations and Tuesday's is all about Paper Folding: Books & Crafts.
 
There are a number of perching birds called Warblers. Come learn about them and go on a hike to practice what you have learned.
