All the warm weather and sunshine sure make it feel like summer is here! Along with summer in the Triangle comes a wonderful assortment of outdoor concerts and summer movies on the lawn. Grab a blanket and some snacks and enjoy the season!

This week we have listed almost 60 events! We will highlight some of the exciting events, but for the whole list of everything going on throughout the Triangle, make sure you go to the ParkGeek.com event search. Put in this weekend's dates and start planning a fabulous weekend.

The music starts Thursday night in Durham. This week's Find Your Cool Summer Concert at the CCB Plaza features the sounds of Strung Like a Horse. Mandolin Orange will be playing a Back Porch Music Concert on the Lawn Thursday at the American Tobacco Campus Amphitheatre.

Raleigh's concert series, Oak City 7 returns this Thursday in City Plaza. Admission is free. This week's concert will feature the bands Atlanta Rhythm Section, Roseland, Bobby Bryson & Co, Wichita Falls and Erica + Erica.

The Skin We're In will be the topic of this Thursday's Science Cafe at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.

Friday Kicks off the Weekend

The Downtown Raleigh Movie Series continues Friday night in Raleigh's City Plaza with the flick "Talladega Nights" and music by Nuclear Honey.

Along with the family favorite Despicable Me 2, there will be live entertainment, games, themed activities and free popcorn & drinks Friday night at Womble Park.

Join them at Morrisville Community Park Friday night for their summer movie series featuring the Hunger Games-Catching Fire. Come early and enjoy dinner from one of the food trucks.

The Triangle Brass Band will present Pops in the Park at Bond Park Friday evening.

Friday night is happening at the NC Museum of Art this week. Art in the evening features music by Peter Lamb and the Wolves, the Sound Bite will explore Remembering Those Past and you are invited to a lecture on Estampas de la raza: Prints, Politics, and Postmodernism.

Last Friday Art Walk in Downtown Historic Hillsborough features a concert by Emily Earle, children's' activities, art galleries, shops, restaurants, churches, museums and historic sites all remain open and offer numerous special events along with a family friendly drumming circle.

Music & Culture at the Parks & Museums

Project Dance with American Dance Festival will be at Marbles Kids Museum Saturday afternoon.

Join the North Carolina Museum of History's garden staff for an informal tour of the History of the Harvest exhibit along Bicentennial Plaza and see what's going on out there!

Sample activities for the upcoming art camps, drop by to do arts and crafts and play games during Saturday morning's Super Fun Saturday at the Halle Cultural Arts Center.

Six Sundays in Spring Concerts continue this weekend with Ironing Board Sam at Carroll Joyner Park.

This week's Sunday in the Park Concert will feature Folk, rock, country and Americana music with the band Milagro Saints at Fred Fletcher Park.

Mary Poppins will be the featured flick Monday morning at the Holly Springs Cultural Center.

Stepahen Anderson will be this Wednesday's featured artist at Regency Park's Hob Nob Jazz Series.

Fabulous Festivals

This weekend brings the Latino Arts Festival to Apex. The festivities start Saturday afternoon with arts & crafts, a Bazaar and pinatas and continue Saturday evening with Latino food, music and dancing.

Ritmo Latino is a free family festival that showcases Latino music, dance and arts in Cary on Saturday. The festival includes live music, vendors, artists, Latin foods, dance lessons for adults, activities for children and a free soccer clinic for the kids.

Step back in time for an afternoon of merriment, music, games, traditional craft demonstrations, and art-making activities Sunday's Family Renaissance Fair at the North Carolina Museum of Art.

It's an old-fashioned Birthday Party to celebrate the anniversary of Kids Together Park. Come join in on the festivities including a parade, The Kids Together Story and Roly Poly fruit slushies.

Fun at the Parks

Listen to the chorus of frogs and toads as the sun sets at Crowder District Park for Fantastic Frogs Friday. Enjoy games, crafts and an evening walk.

Join an Umstead State Park Ranger to learn how to identify Dragonflies Friday afternoon. Come back Saturday for a Happy Birds Hike. On Monday, they will host a program on Butterflies & Moths.

Walnut Creek Wetland Center hosts a Kid's Nature Night Friday. Kids 6-12 will learn about nature, go for a short walk, play games, do a craft and watch a movie.

Eno River State Park invites you to join them for some Beginning Fishing and a Butterfly Hike Saturday. Come back Sunday to learn how to Fashion a Fish and about Early Birds.

Jordan Lake welcomes kids for C.A.S.T. (Catch A Sure Thing!), an introduction to fishing Saturday morning and an Astronomy Viewing Session after dark Saturday.
