Looks like its going to be warm again this weekend. Luckily, we have some wonderful museums if you want to get out of the house, but stay out of the heat. Plenty of evening hikes, movies and concerts let you get out and enjoy the fresh air once the sun goes down.

The public is invited to come out and watch the annual Fire Truck Parade Saturday in Downtown Raleigh. In addition to the parade, you can check out the South Atlantic Fire Rescue Expo and the 9/11 NEVER FORGET Exhibit.
 
Get Out to a Park for Some Fun in the Sun
 
This week rounds out A Thousand Blue Butterflies at the Museum of Life and Science. Experience a total immersion experience in their Magic Wings Butterfly House as they release 1000 new Blue Morpho butterflies this month. There are daily releases and entomologists available to answer all your questions.

 

There will be a Firefly Frenzy at Crowder District Park Friday night. Catch and release lightning bugs, explore what gives them a special glow through hands-on discovery & games.
 
Explore Nature at Night over at Lake Crabtree County Park Friday as they learn all about the Moth Mission.
 
Hike to the Occoneechee Mountain Overlook and discuss the history of Hillsborough Friday evening. Come back Saturday morning to go on a Geology Hike to the pyrophyllite quarry with a real geologist. They will be looking for Frogs & Toads Saturday evening.
 
Beat the heat by hiking in the breeze along Harris Lake County Park's shoreline on Saturday morning's Shoreline Ramble.
 
You can even bring your dog out to Eno River State Park Saturday for a Morning Hike out to the Holden Mill while you learn about the fascinating and controversial figure, William Woods Holden. Come back after dark to celebrate National Moth Week.
 
Join an Umstead State Park naturalist for a hike to discover and Identify the Trees of North Carolina Saturday afternoon.
 
Join them Saturday night at Lake Michie for a Sunset Paddle.
 
They will be offering Half-hour Guided Tours Saturday and Mill Heritage & Local History Tours of the fully restored mill on Sunday at Yates Mill. In addition, you are invited to Paddle the Pond on Saturday and learn all about Clean Water, Clean Fish on Sunday.
 
Join a Ranger at Eno River State Park Sunday night to observe the night sky and look for satellites during their Star Party.
 
Start your week out Monday night at Jordan Lake State Recreation Area with a Family Fishing Clinic.

Music this Weekend

Oak City 7 is back to Raleigh's City Plaza this Thursday night with the bands The Amateurs, Erin Nenni, The Arcane Heart, The Balsa Gliders and Beauty World.

Lakota John & Kin will be playing Friday night at Durham Central Park for a Warehouse Blues Concert.
 
Rock out to Jamrock's authentic reggae rhythms as they play "Yard Style" reggae Friday night at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center.
 
The Doug Largent Trio will bring the dynamic sound of jazz organ trios from the classic Blue Note era to life Friday night at the Holly Springs Cultural Center.
 
This Saturday's Farmers market in Downtown Holly Springs will also feature a concert by the Holly Springs Community Band and Founder's Day & Town Information Day.
 
Come to the new Apex Nature Park Saturday night for a concert by Jonathan Byrd & The Pickup Cowboys.
 
Tight Squeeze will be playing classic rock, blues & country at Pullen Park for a Raleigh Sunday in the Park Concert.
 
They will be Dancing in the Park on Mondays and Tuesdays through August 5th at John Chavis Memorial Park.
 
Johnny Folsom 4 & The Canady Thomas Band will be Raizin' A Ruckus at the Country Music Series Wednesday evening at Regency Park. Tickets are $5.

The 2013 film, Now You See Me, will be Friday night's Movie By Moonlight at Regency Park.

 

Gravity starring Sandra Bullock, George Clooney & Ed Harris will be on the big outdoor screen Friday night at the North Carolina Museum of Art along with live music by Peter Lamb and the Wolves and a Sound Bite on Other Voices.
 
The Internship will be the movie playing under the stars Saturday at Durham Central Park.
 
Monsters Vs. Aliens will be playing in the cool air conditioning of the Holly Springs Cultural Center Saturday morning. Come back Monday for Disney's Jungle Book.
