July 29th - August 4th

by Pam & Michael Davison

Looks like its going to be warm again this weekend. Luckily, we have some wonderful museums if you want to get out of the house, but stay out of the heat. Plenty of evening hikes, movies and concerts let you get out and enjoy the fresh air once the sun goes down.
The place to be this weekend is Downtown Raleigh for Raleigh Wide Open. The annual event boasts something for everyone. Kicking off the event will be a parade down Fayetteville Street complete with marching bands, floats and local celebrities. The city will then come alive with everything from Wrestling and BMX Stunt Shows to the Maximus Circus and a Beer and Wine Festival. There will also be Art Exhibits at various locations, Carolina Hurricanes Alley, an Artisan Market, a Classic Car Show and a Kids Zone complete with inflatables and games. On top of all that, there will be three stages boasting continuous live entertainment. The evening will conclude with a Concert by the Bare Naked Ladies (that does require tickets) and a Fireworks show! Click through for the complete schedule and locations.
Get to a Park for some Fun in the Sun
