Here comes another incredible weekend full of fun activities to do throughout the Triangle. With close to 60 events listed this weekend, there is definitely something for everyone. We will hit the highlights here, but check out ParkGeek.com for all the events or LIKE ParkGeek on Facebook so you can get daily ideas and updates.

Science Thursday at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences brings a Science Cafe taking on Popular Culture vs Science with Timothy Caulfield, a Canada Research Chair in Health Law and Policy.

Also Thursday night at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, the public is invited to the Raleigh Astronomy Club's Monthly Lecture. This Thursday, they will feature Professor Charles R. Evans, Department of Physics and Astronomy at UNC. He will present "Detection of Gravitational Waves and the New Era of Gravitational Wave Astronomy."

Suzanne Adair, Revolutionary War historical novelist will discuss her latest book Thursday at the Burwell School Historic Site.

Friday Happenings

First Friday is still a week away, but there is still plenty to do around the Triangle Friday night to kick your weekend off in style.

Celebrate the Last Friday in Downtown Hillsborough. Art Galleries, shops, restaurants, churches, museums and historic sites remain open and offer numerous special events. There will be a concert by the Second Set on the south lawn of the Courthouse. Artists, food vendors, musicians and craftspeople also set up their wares on the sidewalks around the courthouse.

Its Finally Friday in Downtown Apex. On the last Friday, or "final" Friday of each month from April to September, the Apex Downtown Business Association will be bringing entertainment and food to Salem Street for some after-work relaxation and fun.

Fridays on the Front Porch of the Carolina Inn features the sounds of Big Fat Gap and the food trucks Porchetta and Bulkogi.

Art in the Evening returns to the North Carolina Museum of Art with music by Peter Lamb and the Wolves, a discussion on how Armor Makes the Man, and the Indian film, Apur Sansar (The World of Apu) by award winning director Satyajit Ray.

Festivals and Special Events at Triangle Parks

Spring Daze Arts and Crafts Festival celebrates its 23rd year Saturday at Bond Park. The festival boasts over 180 North Carolina artists, entertainment on four stages, delicious festival food and Cary's annual Earth Day Celebration.

HerbFest continues for a second weekend in Wake Forest. Along with a wide variety of herbs, vegetables and flowers for sale to jump start your gardens, there will be lots of kids activities, live music and a variety of entertainment. Click through for the schedule of events.

The North Carolina State Fairgrounds hosts One Tribe Fest 2016, a Local Community Expo and Festival, the Southern Bridal Show and Expo, a Toy Train Sale and Swap Meet and the NC Strongest Man & Woman Championships.

The Durham Art Walk Spring Market is a festive fine arts and crafts event that celebrates the season in downtown Durham! You will also enjoy live musical performances and can enjoy delicious food at numerous downtown Durham restaurants and food trucks.

Oaks & Spokes is an 8 day long bicycle festival that starts Sunday. Join them for rides, scavenger hunts, movies, parties workshops, a bike rodeo and an art show. Click through for all the details.

Sunday's Carrboro Day & Block Party features music, food, poetry and family fun. The day includes concerts by Blame It on My Youth Jazz Orchestra, Saludos Compay, Michelle Belanger and the Mystery Hillbillies and Urban Soil. In addition to the main stage entertainment, the community festival will include additional live music inside Cat's Cradle and The Arts Center, food trucks, beer and fun. Sunday kicks off the Food Truck Rodeo season along Fayetteville Street in Downtown Raleigh. Join them for over 50 trucks hooked up to silent power and seating setup for over 1,000 people.

Fun at the Parks

Historic Yates Mill County Park invites you to come learn about Terrific Trees all day Friday. They will also be conducting Old Mill Tours Saturday and Mill Heritage & Local History Tours on Sunday.

Adults are invited to join rangers Friday morning at Durant Nature Park for a Spring ID Bird Workshop. This workshop will even count towards criteria II requirements of the NC Environmental Education Certification program.

Bring the kids to Durant Nature Park Saturday to Dip and Discover what critters are lurking in the pond.

This Sunday's Spring Hike at West Point on the Eno will be along the Flat River Wildflower Hike.

Crowder Park kicks off the Month of May with a variety of kids programs. Join them Monday for Tiny Tots: Movement in Nature aimed at little ones 18 months - 3 years. Tuesday's Nature Families: Bird Watchers is appropriate for all ages. Wednesday's Nature Watchers: Baby Birds is for kids ages 3-5 and Nature Friends: Feathered Friends is for kids ages 6-9.

Adults are invited to spend Wednesday Afternoon with a Naturalist. These monthly programs give you the opportunity to view the changing seasons at the park.

The farmer's markets are still celebrating their Grand Openings. Holly Springs will kick off the season next Saturday with plenty of fresh produce but most of the other Triangle town's municipal markets are already open. The Raleigh Downtown Farmer's Market kicks off their Wednesday lunch time market this week with a Pig Pickin' Kick Off Event.

Spring Concerts

The Six Sundays in Spring Concert Series is back again at Carroll Joyner Park with the EG Peters Band.

Marcus Anderson will be the featured performer for Wednesday night's Hob Nob Jazz Series at Koka Booth Amphitheatre.
