Here in the Triangle we have another awesome summer weekend jam packed with fun events and activities! Start the fun Thursday with movies, concerts and celebrations.

Halle Cultural Arts Center continues their Free Week of Kid's Movies through Friday with Turbo on Thursday and The Good Dinosaur on Friday.

The State Farmers Market in Raleigh will be celebrating Watermelon Day during lunch Thursday.

Prairie Ridge Ecostation highlights a Nature Story every Thursday morning along with activities and exploration for your little ones.

Marbles Kids Museum invites you to enjoy all their activities for only $2 every week during Twilight Thursdays from 3pm-7pm.

Thursday's Science Cafe at the North Carolina Museum of Sciences explores When Mice are Men along with extended hours. Learn why scientists study men when developing treatments for both sexes and what is being done about it.

Get out to a Park

Prairie Ridge Ecostation hosts weekly events including Citizen Science Saturdays and Nature Stories on Thursdays. This Sunday, you can be a musician for a day as they make Percussion Instruments from recycled and biodegradable materials.

Crabtree Casters invite you to enjoy an evening of fishing on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday evenings of every month at Lake Crabtree County Park.

Get outside, get moving and get healthy! Join a Raven Rock State Park ranger each Thursday morning for an invigorating Hike for Your Health.

The fun at the parks starts after the sun goes down Friday. Join them at Crowder District Park for a Moth Party to celebrate National Moth Week.

One Friday a month the Bond Park Boathouse plays host to musicians, food trucks and after-hours boat rentals. Spend your Friday evening floating on Bond Lake in the evening sun while you listen to great music and enjoy delicious food.

Discover the night sky through telescopes and binoculars at Harris Lake's Family Astronomy Evening after dark Friday.

Stop by to learn about different Plants & Animals that call Horseshoe Farm Nature Preserve home Saturday evening. Make an evening of it and bring a picnic dinner to enjoy before or after you visit the way station!

They will be offering Half-hour Guided Tours Saturday and Mill Heritage & Local History Tours of the fully restored mill on Sunday at Yates Mill.

Tuesday is National Night Out. Many towns are partnering with local police departments and Target stores to host events. The Garner Police will be at Lake Benson Tuesday evening sharing how to keep neighborhoods safe places to live, work and play.

Music this Weekend

Jonathan Byrd & The Pickup Cowboy will be featured in this Friday night's Durham Central Park Concert.

Local bands will be playing on the South Lawn of the Courthouse along with artists food vendors and craftspeople will be on hand for Downtown Hillsborough's/ Chapel Hill's Last Friday Art Walk.

Local bands will be playing and Triangle food trucks will be serving dinner on the Front Porch of the Carolina Inn Friday.

Join the Final Friday Art Loop in Downtown Cary featuring Arts Entertainment Hubs in three designated areas around downtown that will host outdoor performing arts and food trucks

Its Finally Friday in Apex. Join them for entertainment and food along Salem Street.

Beatlesque, a four-piece Beatles tribute band will be performing music from the Beatles in costume and in character Friday night for a Summer at the Springs Outdoor Concert in Holly Springs.

Cary Live will bring the eclectic indie rock sound of the Futurebirds to the stage at the new Downtown Park in Cary Saturday evening along with Bull City Ciderworks and some local food vendors.

This Sunday's Concert in the Park will feature the high energy bluegrass sounds of GrassStreet at Dix Park.

Movies at the Parks and Museums

Movies Under the Stars in Downtown Chapel Hill will bring family favorite Cars to the big screen Thursday after dark.

Raleigh Little Theater will be showing Movies in the Garden on Thursday night along with pre-movie activities and food trucks. This weeks movie will be Cinderella (2015) and food will be provided by Arepa Culture and Jay's Italian Ice. Come early for some Disney Trivia.

The Lego Batman Movie is the featured flick for Saturday's Movie in the Park at Falcon Park.

An American in Paris will be on the big outdoor screen Friday night at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Come back after dark Saturday for a screening of La La Land.

Come enjoy family favorite, Finding Dory on the big screen Saturday evening at Carroll Joyner Park.

What's So Funny? Peace, Love and Understanding? a a 1961 documentary about peacefully demonstrating against war which pairs social consciousness with laughs will be playing after dark Saturday at Durham Central Park.

The Emperors New Groove will be playing in the cool air conditioning of the Holly Springs Cultural Center Monday morning.

Even More Fun Events

The Halle Cultural Arts Center will host an Opening Reception for the Watercolor Society of North Carolina & Molly Cassidy Friday evening. The show runs through September 1st.

Take a National Parks Adventure Exploration Zone Saturday at Marbles Kids Museum as you pitch a tent, read camp stories and prepare for your next outdoor exploration.

Japanese Natsu Matsuri (Summer Festival) features traditional Japanese street food and drink (including Japanese beer) along with traditional Japanese bon odori dancing, performances by taiko drums & Japanese musical instruments, Japanese choir and musicians, Japanese martial arts demos, and other Japanese cultural entertainment Saturday at the State Fairgrounds.

At the Hunt Horse Complex of the Fairgrounds, the Raleigh Summer Dressage I & II Show will feature Dressage under saddle classes at all levels, Intro to Grand Prix, Sport Horse under saddle and in-hand classes both Saturday and Sunday.

The Science Saturday Buffet returns to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences with a lively science presentation featuring a "taste" of everything the Museum has to offer: live animals, weird science facts, dramatic demonstrations, and explosions.

Join them along Academy Street and Downtown Park for this season's third Cary Downtown Chowdown with a wide variety of local food trucks, craft beer & wine vendors and music from local performers.
