Friday Kicks off the Weekend

Just outside the Triangle, the Natural Science Center of Greensboro invites you to enjoy an evening of lights and music for Laser Zeppelin. Shown on their OmniSphere Theater's 40-foot dome, the sounds of Led Zepplin will wash away the winter blues. There are 3 shows Friday night.

Iris after Dark at the North Carolina Museum of Art features music, small plates and drink specials as well as the last film in the Winter Film Series, Columbus.

Conservation Assistance Day returns to the North Carolina Museum of History Friday. You are invited to bring up to three objects for assessment and advice on care from a museum conservator.

On the last Friday of every month, Cary celebrates art with the Cary Art Loop. Enjoy extended hours at participating art galleries, restaurants, coffee houses, and other businesses that showcase visual arts, music, and use the free shuttle service between downtown venues.

This Sunday's Winter Hike at West Point on the Eno Park will finish out their winter series with a hike out to the Fannie Breeze Homestead for a History Hike.

Monday is Tell A Fairytale Day! Celebrate at Durant Nature Park as they read a nature themed fairytale or two and you get to build your very own fairy home.

Join an Umstead State Park Ranger Monday for a Piedmont Beech Off Trail Hike. Discover a beautiful area of the park that was never farmed or used intensively. You'll get to see some of the biggest Beech trees in the park along with species that are normally found in some of their state's western mountain parks. This strenuous hike will partly take place on our multi-use trails but will also contain about 3/4 of a mile of off trail hiking.

Kids ages 7-14 are invited to Field School at Historic Yates Mill County Park on Monday. They will examine animal mounts, skulls, tracks, scat, and more in their science classroom and observe animals in action on an around-the-pond hike.

Explore the lives and accomplishments of African American North Carolinians from the antebellum period to the Civil Rights era on an African American History Tour Saturday at the North Carolina Museum of History.

The North Carolina Museum of Art offers Meet Your Museum Tours of the 164 acre campus and Weekend Friendly family Tours both Saturday and Sunday.

Fort Dobbs State Historic Site will be commemorating the 1760 Cherokee Attack on Fort Dobbs both Saturday and Sunday with on-going displays of camp life, as well as scheduled musket and cannon firing demonstrations.

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences will host a Teen Volunteer Fair exploring the variety of opportunities for teens at the Museum Sunday afternoon.
