Here in the Triangle we have another awesome summer weekend jam packed with fun events and activities! Start the fun Thursday with movies, concerts and celebrations.

Halle Cultural Arts Center continues their Free Week of Kid's Movies through Friday with the Lorax on Thursday and the Little Mermaid on Friday.

Prairie Ridge Ecostation highlights a Nature Story every Thursday morning along with activities and exploration for your little ones.

The State Farmers Market in Raleigh will be celebrating Watermelon Day during lunch Thursday.

Marbles Kids Museum invites you to enjoy all their activities for only $3 every week during Twilight Thursdays from 3pm-7pm.

Bring the family to the Halle Cultural Arts Center Thursday for Pizza and a Movie. The featured flick is Paddington 2.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be the featured flick at Chapel Hill's Movie Under the Stars Thursday after dark.

Movies in the Garden is a family-friendly event, showing movies at the Raleigh Little Theater. Join them Thursday evening for food trucks and the film Mean Girls.

Thursday's Science Cafe at the North Carolina Museum of Sciences explores Discovering Dragonflies along with extended hours. Learn about how two citizen science projects are helping uncover how dragonflies respond to changes in weather, how dragonflies swarm, and why these behaviors are important to us as humans.

Get out to a Park for some fun in the Sun

Come out to Harris Lake Park Friday evening to do some Skywatching with their telescopes and binoculars.

You are invited to a Moth Party at Crowder Park Friday night after dark!

Saturday is Historic Games Day at Duke Homestead. Join them for a day of historic games, from parlor games to town ball, and make a toy of your own.

Join them at Oak View Saturday for a History Hike through the old farmstead. The property tour will include all of the buildings and features of Historic Oak View, including hands-on interactive activities.

Get your hands (and feet) wet during a scientific survey of freshwater macro-invertebrates (i.e. Water Bugs) or Fashion a Fish Saturday at Eno River State Park.

Come learn what Animals live around the Falls Lake Area Saturday.

They will be offering Half-hour Guided Tours Saturday and Mill Heritage & Local History Tours of the fully restored mill on Sunday at Yates Mill. You can also Paddle the Pond Saturday and explore the park from the water. Come back Sunday for Build a Scarecrow Day.

O is For Opossum Sunday along the American Tobacco Trail as you learn what makes these mysterious animals so special.

Surprise, Surprise Surprise Thursday at Jordan Lake. One of the three Rangers of Poplar Point Campground will give a presentation on one of the cool things about Jordan Lake. It could be animal related, history of the lake, or something hands on.

Music this Weekend

Empire Strikes Bass will be featured in this Friday night's Durham Central Park Concert.

Brynmor will be playing traditional Welsh and Irish Celtic tunes, with upbeat Celtic rock thrown in Friday evening at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center.

.U.B.U. The Band will be playing on the South Lawn of the Courthouse along with artists food vendors and craftspeople at Downtown Hillsborough's/ Chapel Hill's Last Friday Art Walk.

Apex will bring Bach to Rock to the stage for a Friday night concert at the Apex Historic District and Urban Soil to the Apex Nature Park Amphitheatre Saturday evening.

G Run Band will be playing and Triangle food truck Soom Soom will be serving dinner on the Front Porch of the Carolina Inn Friday.

Join the Final Friday Art Loop in Downtown Cary featuring Arts Entertainment Hubs in three designated areas around downtown that will host the band One Tribe and food trucks

Its Finally Friday in Apex. Join them for entertainment and food along Salem Street.

Funk N DisOrder, a four-piece Beatles tribute band will be performing Rock, R"n"B, electronic music, funk, hip hop, reggae, country, blues Friday night for a Summer at the Springs Outdoor Concert in Holly Springs.

This Sunday's Concert in the Park will feature the high energy bluegrass sounds of Devereux Meadow Grounds Crew at Fred Fletcher Park.

Movies

The Big Sick will be the featured flick on the big, outdoor screen at the North Carolina Museum of Art Friday after dark.

Final Friday brings The Fifth Element to the big screen at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences along with science stations, live music and food.

Come enjoy family favorite Cars 3 on the big screen Saturday evening at Carroll Joyner Park. Go early to and bring your own cardboard box to create a car with your family that you can sit in while you enjoy the movie.

The Hot Days-Cool Nights Movie Series closes out the month with The Golden Compass Sunday evening at the Carrboro Century Center.

Mr. Magorium"s Wonder Emporium will be playing in the cool air conditioning of the Holly Springs Cultural Center Monday morning.

Even More Fun Events

The Halle Cultural Arts Center will host an Opening Reception for Image Salon Photographers and the Cary Photographic Artist Friday night. The show runs through August 31st.

The Holly Springs Farmers Market features Founders Day this Saturday! You can pickup a walking tour map of the Village District Core to learn about the history of Holly Springs, tour the Holly Springs Baptist Church and Holly Springs UMC, and the Holly Springs Masonic Lodge will be open for tours PLUS a pancake breakfast!

Explore Downtown Durham and learn how it has transformed itself from an industrial center to the City of Medicine on a Durham Architecture & the Urban Landscape Walking Tour Saturday morning.

Over 80 exhibitors will be buying, selling and trading vintage to new sportscards, memorabilia and comics on over 225 tables at this summers' Sports Card, Memorabilia, & Comic Con at the Fairgrounds all weekend.

At the Hunt Horse Complex of the Fairgrounds, the Raleigh Summer Dressage I & II Show will feature Dressage under saddle classes at all levels, Intro to Grand Prix, Sport Horse under saddle and in-hand classes both Saturday and Sunday.
