Welcome back to the heat of the summer. There are lots of great summer events this weekend.

Celebrate Summer at our Parks

Both Saturday and Sunday Historic Yates Mill Park will be offering tours of the restored historic mill.

Along with their weekly Citizen Science Saturday walks, Prairie Ridge Ecostation invites you to join them during the week for Nature Play Days on Tuesdays and Saturdays and Nature Stories on Thursdays.

Join a Preservation Durham volunteer guide for a Tobacco Heritage Walking Tour Saturday morning as they lead you through the history of the tobacco industry including descriptions of life in the factories and at home for the thousands of workers who made the Bull City one of the biggest industrial cities in the South as well as those who, like guitarist John Dee Holeman, trekked to Durham's tobacco auctions to play the blues.

Oak View Park is proud to announce that they are hosting the Summer Food Service Program again this year from June 17th through August 9th. They are looking for volunteers who could help serve meals, as well as people who would want to lend a hand to staff games and activities. Kids 18 and younger are invited to join them each weekday for a meal and activities.

Tunes & Culture in the Triangle

The second Friday of the month brings festivities throughout the Triangle. Join them in Carrboro & Chapel Hill for 2nd Friday Artwalkwalk, and Wake Forest for Art After Hours along with a Friday Night on White concert by Soul Psychedelique.

Iris After Dark returns to the North Carolina Museum of Art Friday evening with small plates, special drinks and music.

Fridays on the Front Porch of the Carolina Inn Friday will feature Barefoot Manner Bluegrass Band as well as Triangle food truck Chick-N-Que.

Spend an Evening with Van Hunt at Friday night's PLAYlist concert at Durham Central Park.

Holly Springs Community Band will be playing a Summer at the Springs Outdoor Concert at the Holly Springs Cultural Center Friday night.

Maradeen will be the featured band Saturday evening at the Apex Nature Park.

Al Strong and the 99 Brass Band will be the featured performers Saturday night in Bond Park.

This week's Sunday in the Park Concert will bring the Raleigh Jazz Orchestra to the stage at Fred Fletcher Park.

Movies at the Parks and Museums

Game Night will be the featured flick this Friday as Regency Park presents Movies by Moonlight.

Monday morning's featured movie at the Holly Springs Cultural Center is the animated Puss and Boots.

More Fun & Festivals

Come Celebrate Sunfest at Dorthea Dix Park Saturday. The event features live music, arts and crafts, performance artists, vendors and amazing food trucks.

The Annual Children's Good News Spectacular returns to the Fairgrounds Saturday with inflatable games and rides, popcorn, snow cones and drinks, and an illusion show blended with several gospel puppet presentations.
