For those of you heading back to college or traditional calendar school, your summer may be winding down. With plenty of fun activities throughout the Triangle, you can give the summer a grand farewell!

For the first two weeks in December, Pullen Park will be festively decorated with thousands of lights and transformed into a holiday wonderland. Even though the winter holidays seem pretty far off, advanced tickets for Pullen Park's Holiday Express are already on sale through Reclink.  The tickets sell out so get yours now before they are gone.

Festivals & Special Events

The Grand Opening Celebration continues at Moore Square. Join them Friday morning for Giant Board Games on the lawn. Come back after dark Sunday for the movie How to Train Your Dragon 3.

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is throwing a birthday party for Smokey Bear Friday morning. Meet Smokey Bear, watch the Ballad of Smokey Bear (1966), a claymation children's movie; sign a giant birthday card for Smokey and other fun activities.

Join them for the Reopening Celebration of Lions Park Community Center Saturday. Enjoy class demos, art activities, food, facility tours and more!

Join the N.C. Specialty Foods Association for its annual Artisan Food Fair at the State Farmers Market Saturday.

The NC State Fairgrounds invites all "brides to be" to the Southern Bridal Show and Expo this weekend.

The Holly Springs Farmers Market will be celebrating National Farmers Market Week with Customer Appreciation Day at Saturday's market.

History Comes Alive

Yates Mill Historic Park will be offering Saturday and Sunday tours of the totally restored Mill.

Take a Durham Tobacco Heritage Walking Tour Saturday and learn about Durham's tobacco heritage through stories and experiences of Durham residents.

The North Carolina Museum of Art invites you to join them every weekend for a variety of free tours. On Saturdays, you can take a Guided Tour of the Museum Park. Both Saturday and Sunday, they offer Meet Your Museum Tours and Weekend Family Friendly Tours.

Movies & Concerts at the Parks and Museums

Iris after Dark kicks off the weekend at the North Carolina Museum of Art with music, small plates and special drinks. Friday night's outdoor movie will be Free Solo. Come back Saturday after dark for The Dude Abides Movie Party with The Big Lebowski.

Movies by Moonlight will bring a Jurassic World to the big outdoor screen Friday after dark at Regency Park.

The second Friday of the month brings the 2nd Friday Artwalk to Carrborro.

Second Friday also brings Art After Hours to Downtown Wake Forest. Come see the town come alive with food, merchants and music! As an added bonus, Big Love will be playing this month's Friday Night on White Concert joined by a wide variety of local food trucks.

The PLAYlist Concert Series returns Friday night with a concert by New Reveille with Raleigh Rockers.

The Adam Lee Decker Trio will take the outdoor stage at the Holly Springs Cultural Center Friday night.

Fridays on the Front Porch of the Carolina Inn brings Jimmy Hayes Band to the stage along with Triangle food trucks Bo's Chicken and Poblanos Tacos.

Bumblebee will be the featured flick Saturday after dark at Joyner Park. Bumblebee and Optimus Prime will drop by before the film so kids and families will have the opportunity to meet and take pictures with the transformers.

Captain Marvel will be on the big screen Saturday evening at the Apex Nature Park Amphitheatre.

The Sertoma Concert Series at Bond Park will bring Zoocru to the stage Saturday evening for blended musical elements derived from the core influences of black music.

SWAG will be the featured band Sunday evening at Fletcher Park.

Coco will be the featured movie Monday morning at the Holly Springs Cultural Center.

Downtown Park in Cary will present Lauren Meehan Wednesday evening.

At the Parks

Head on over to Harris Lake County Park Saturday for some Family Disc Golf. Players of all levels are welcome and there will be even be instructors on hand.

Come get to Know Your Trees Saturday at Historic Oak View Park as they cover basic tree identification, go on a scavenger hunt and make some tree-related crafts.

Come discover the truth about Snakes as you learn that they are not so scary Saturday at Raven Rock.

Come learn what Animals live around the Falls Lake Sunday.

Visit the Prairie Ridge pond to get an up-close look at some of the plants and animals that call it home during a Pond Discovery on Sunday.
