After a crazy weather week, it looks like we will be getting nice spring weekend. There are lots of fun events going on to get you outside and enjoy the flowering Cherries and Pears.

Carrboro will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Town's incorporation and your invited. Thursday night will kick off with with the ringing of the Century Center's bell (100 times of course). Formal remarks by Mayor Mark Chilton and Congressman David Price, a history presentation, a poetry reading, an arts exhibit, singing by Carrboro school children and a final "Happy Birthday" serenade while enjoying birthday cupcakes will round out the evening.

The Area's Museums have something for everything!
 
March Science Madness at the Museum of Life and Science is going to celebrate science all month with a Tournament of Science. Each week will feature a different aspect of science with Microbiology and General Science this weekend. Attend all 4 Saturdays and collect the weekly stamps to be recognized with a special award and be entered in a drawing for two passes to the Science of Chocolate event in April.
LEGO-palooza is here! Head on over to the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center to see what amazing creations members of the North Carolina LEGO Users Group have created this year.
Marbles Kids Museum features a variety of special events this weekend including Garden Sprouts, and Science Solvers. Dig In is a summit for grown ups promoting gardening in Wake County focusing on the down and dirty on how to build, maintain and sustain a community garden.
Family Fun Saturdays at the North Carolina Museum of Art will incorporate Landscapes & Cityscapes.
Poetry Out Loud encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization and performance. Come watch winning students from across North Carolina compete in the state championship at the North Carolina Museum of History.
Everybody loves a birthday party! Swing by the Holly Springs Library to pick up your free tickets to Dr. Seuss Birthday Party. Enjoy several classic stories as well as fun-filled activities and refreshments. Following the festivities will be the movie Green Eggs and Ham.
 
The Parks come alive from morning until evening.
 
Historic Yates Mill Park signals spring is here with the return of their Mill Tours. This weekend you are invited to take a Mill Heritage Tour of the first floor of the fully restored mill.
This Saturday two of our local parks give you an opportunity to volunteer. Durant Nature Park is looking for folks to help maintain the park and Occoneechee Mountain is hoping to make improvements on the Occoneechee Mountain Loop Trail.
The state parks are gearing up for spring with several fun programs. Eno River State will feature Birdwatching, A Walk in the Woods and It's Your Park. Come out to Falls Lake State Recreation Area and learn about BW Wells, one of North Carolina's most influential naturalists while you hike around the farm site.
At West Point on the Eno on Sunday afternoon, they will hike the 2.5 miles around Black Meadow Ridge.
Wake County Parks will be Getting Ready for Bluebirds on the American Tobacco Trail and Birding with Vernon , and taking a Bluebird Trail Walk at Lake Crabtree County Park.
Learn a new sport while having fun with your family! Family Disc Golf will get you in on the action by joining a professional disc golfer on Harris Lake's beautiful 18-hole disc golf course.
 
First Friday in Downtown Raleigh
 
Marbles Kids Museum kicks off the month of March and the Weekend with First Friday. Bring your kids and enjoy the extended hours and activities.
For the slightly more adult crowd, the Raleigh City Museum also extends their hours for First Friday.
Yongary: Monster from the Deep will be the featured flick along with extemded hours over at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.
The 1926 movie, ManTrap will be on the big screen at the North Carolina Museum of Art friday night along with Art in the Evening which converts their lobby to a lounge for the evening.
While you are downtown, enjoy a free self-guided tour of local art galleries, art studios, museums, retail, restaurants and alternative art venues on the first Friday of every month during the First Friday Gallery Walk.
If you want to start the weekend off with a great outside, family event, check out the Owl Prowl at Bass Lake Park. The program will include a presentation about owls and a night hike.
 
Dixie Deer Classic at the State Fairgrounds
 
The Annual Dixie Deer Classic is back at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. The event goes all weekend, but Friday is Youth Day which includes reduced admission, a wildlife scavenger hunt and environmental education programs.
You are also welcome to stop in to the Hunt Horse Complex and enjoy the Carolina Mane Event Show.
