Here comes another amazing Spring weekend in the Triangle! There are so many fun festivals to choose from this weekend.
The Town of Holly Springs is asking all you ParkGeeks to help them write a comprehensive bicycle planning document. Everyone is invited to take five minutes and fill out their Survey. You do not have to be a Holly Springs resident or a current cyclist so take a few minutes and let your voice be heard.

Fun Family Festivals
 
Grab your fishing poles or borrow one of theirs and head on over to Harris Lake County Park for May Fishing Fun Day. All ages are invited to fish for fun and enjoy a morning of games, fishing and fun! Kids ages 7-14 can participate in the Reel Kids for College casting contest and cast your way into winning a rod and reel to take home. Bait, games, prizes and refreshments will be provided while supplies last.
"If its good for the kids, its good for Holly Springs" has been the motto of Holly Spring's Mayor, Dick Sears and this weekend the town will show how they love the kids. Kids Appreciation Day is an annual event for kids of all ages. Come on out to Womble Park for free slice of pizza, a drink, a snowball and a raffle ticket. There will also be an afternoon full of entertainment like karoke, face painting, inflatable rides, local VIP entertainment, the "Terrific Kids" awards ceremony and much much more!
Turtlefest is coming to Bass Lake Park. The annual celebration is one of Bass Lake Park's biggest events and features interactive exhibits, games, crafts, a children's art contest and lots of turtles.
Live entertainment, ethnic food, arts and crafts, an interactive children's area, and community kiosks are all part of the BIMBE' Cultural Arts Festival at CCB Plaza this weekend. The celebration of African and African American history, culture, art and traditions is a free, family friendly event.
You're invited to bring the family to Leigh Farm Park, to enjoy good food, live music, crafts, displays, activities, and of course, live critters during their annual Festival for Wildlife. This event is a fundraiser and does have an admission fee. Click through for the details.
 
Birds, Butterflies & the Full Moon at the Parks
 
Looking for a fun day trip? The North Carolina Zoo is a fabulous destination! This weekend you can also learn about the mission of International Migratory Bird Day through educational fun at the Aviary during Birds and Blooms.
Kids get to make their own binoculars learn about migratory birds and then take a hike to look for these newly arrived birds from the tropics in honor of International Migratory Bird Day at Falls Lake State Recreation Area.
Join park staff at Lake Crabtree County Park as you venture out in the park to look for Butterflies.
Join with the Friends of Hemlock Bluffs and REI to assist staff with Trail Maintenance and improvements to aid in recreation and conservation efforts.
Planting Day at Bennett Place Historic Site focuses on farm life in the 1850's during the Spring planting season. Come be a part of the preparation and planting of the vegetable and herb gardens, and other daily chores and tasks on a typical farm of the 19th century.
Centennial Campus Center for Wildlife Education will host the first in a series of programs to learn about rehabilitating raptors. Raptor Rehabilitation will be on capturing and restraining injured birds of prey.
The whole family can have fun Sunday at Crowder District County Park observing living and non-living natural objects under the microscope and with a magnifying glass during Microscope Mania.
Come on out Tuesday night to Lake Johnson Park to enjoy a Full Moon Hike around the park.
 
Fun Starts Friday at the Museums & Parks
 
The 1957 film Funny Face will be the featured flick at the North Carolina Museum of Art for Art in the Evening.
The monthly OmniSphere Show at the Natural Science Center of Greensboro returns this Friday night with "Laser Beatles". This must-see evening laser show features songs from the popular Beatles band set to an amazing laser show of light across the NSC's 40 foot OmniSphere Dome Theater.
Art After Hours is the second Friday night of each month. The streets of Downtown Wake Forest will come alive with food, merchants and music!
Explore the forest at night, listening for animals and enjoying the beauty of the woods on a Night Hike at West point on the Eno.
"Do It Again" and "One Night in Kernersville" round out the double feature at the Movies on the Lawn at the American Tobacco Campus.
Bring the family out to Bass Lake Park Friday night for a little friendly competition and maybe to will a little cash during Family Bingo.
Sertoma Amphitheater will be the site of the NC Songwriters Co-Op Showcase Saturday afternoon. The event will present three groups as part of a songwriters' showcase to highlight the importance of songwriting in traditional music.
Bring your kids to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences for Bookedmarked! Author and illustrator of three Caldecott Honor Books, Molly Bang will be reading her books followed by a fun science activity.
Dress your kids up as their favorite superhero and let them parade through the museum for SuperKids Saturday at Marbles Kids Museum.
Family-friendly performers Leah Magner and Friends will offer a Family Fun Concert at Fred Fletcher Park on Sunday afternoon.
David Zonderman will lead a discussion after the showing of The Cry of the Children, a controversial 1912 silent film depicting the hardships of child textile workers at the The North Carolina Museum of History.
Bear Awareness Week kicks off Sunday at the Museum of Life and Science. Join them daily to learn more about these fascinating animals.
Bring the whole family to Marbles Kids Museum for a night of play for just $2 per person during their monthly Target $2 Tuesday Night.
 
Fun at the Fairgrounds
 
The WRAL Wellness Weekend is designed to capture the attention of tens of thousands of health conscious consumers and offers dancing, aerobics, health tests and screenings, jazzercising, soccer, rock climbing, and a community blood drive.
Man's best friend will be the focus of the Mid Atlantic Hound Association Dog Show. Come enjoy the AKC sanctioned show.
For you collectors out there, the North Carolina State Fairgrounds will be hosting a Sportscard and Sports Memorabilia Show this weekend.
