Wheels on Academy Rolls into Downtown Cary with Public Safety Day in Tow

Check out the cars of yesteryear alongside some of today"s modern hot rods and exotic cars at Wheels on Academy on Saturday, May 19 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. along Academy Street in Downtown Cary.
New this year, the event will be held in conjunction with Public Safety Day featuring a number of police and fire vehicles, plus a GoCary bus, garbage truck and much more in the Touch-A-Truck area.


South Academy Street will be closed from 5:30 a.m. until approximately 3:30 p.m. for the event.Dry Avenue will be closed from Walnut Street to Faculty Street to accommodate the Public Safety Day activities.Chatham Street, Harrison Ave, and Walker Street will remain open during the event.
Cary, NC – Wheels on Academy is rolling back into Downtown Cary on Saturday, May 19 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. with a new feature in tow, Public Safety Day. Check out the cars of yesteryear alongside some of today"s modern hot rods and exotic cars plus a number of police and fire vehicles as part of Public Safety Day; there will also be a GoCary bus, garbage truck and much more in the Touch-A-Truck area.

Returning this year will also be the Hagerty youth judging program, take-a-part Model T demonstration, children’s crafts and Play-Well TEKnologies gravity car challenge using LEGOs. Of course, there will be live entertainment from the Magic Pipers and Whiskey Runners, concessions and a not-to-be-missed Police vs. Fire fitness challenge.

Day-of registration for the car show is available. The cars will be on view along South Academy Street and trophies will be awarded for the “Top 50” and “Mayor’s Award.” Touch-A-Truck will take place at the south end of South Academy Street and the new Downtown Park. This year’s Touch-A-Truck will feature a "No Horn Hour" from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. for guests with sensitive hearing. Little ones with sensitivities to loud noises are encouraged to visit during this time to experience everything in a comfortable environment.
