Say farewell to February with some fun programs this Thursday! The flowers are blooming and the frogs are singing... spring is really here!

This Science Thursday at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. The Smell of Science: The Armpit Microbiome is the topic of the Science Cafe. They will also feature the Premiere of the film Antarctica 3D: On the Edge and a Teen Volunteer Fair exploring the variety of opportunities for teens at the Museum.

Twilight $2 Thursdays comes to Marbles Kids Museum every week with extended hours and reduced admission.

Friday Kicks off the Weekend

Just outside the Triangle, the Natural Science Center of Greensboro invites you to enjoy an evening of lights and music for Laser Zeppelin. Shown on their OmniSphere Theater's 40-foot dome, the sounds of Led Zepplin will wash away the winter blues. There are 3 shows Friday night.

Art in the Evening at the North Carolina Museum of Art features live music by Peter Lamb and the Wolves as well as the Abbott and Costello classic Buck Privates. This week's Friday Night Sound Bite will examine Time and Tide.

Come see the variety of talent in this year's Youth Juried Show at the Halle Cultural Arts Center. Also featuring Dennie Frailey and Michelle Davis Petelinz, the show runs through March 8th and there will be an opening reception Friday evening.

The Raleigh Indoors Winter Classic Hunter Jumper Horse Show starts Thursday and runs through Sunday at the Hunt Horse Complex of the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. There are horse shows at the Fairgrounds most weekends and the spectator admission is almost always free. You are also generally welcome to walk around the paddocks to see the horses up close and talk to the riders.

Also at the Fairgrounds, the Raleigh Antiques Extravaganza returns for the weekend with over 125 exhibitors. This event does have an admission fee.

Come to Historic Yates Mill County Park Friday night for Night Tales. Gather round a brazier fire on the back deck and hear some tall tales and local legends while you enjoy roasting s'mores.

Take a date night out while your kids enjoy Kid's Nature Night at Walnut Creek Wetland Center Friday.

Take a Winter Tree Identification Hike Saturday at Occoneechee Mountain and learn how to identify trees using clues other than leaves.

Explore the Animals of Falls Lake Saturday with a Ranger and learn who calls the park home.

Learn how to navigate using a compass on a Family Orienteering adventure at Harris Lake County Park Saturday.

Come join Umstead State Park staff Sunday to Celebrate 100 S'more Years in North Carolina State Parks with free cook em' yourself s'mores.

This Sunday's Wnter Hike at West Point on the Eno Park will finish out their winter series with a hike out to the Pump Station, Durham's first public drinking water source.

History and Culture

Meet an architect, athlete, dentist, TV reporter and many others representing a wide variety of careers! Learn about their careers through hands-on activities, experiments and fun at Marble's Future Me Kids Career Fair Saturday.

On the anniversary of the Cherokee attack on Ft. Dobbs, re-enactors representing the provincial garrison and Cherokee warriors will offer on-going interpretation of 18th Century camp life, as well as featured musket and cannon firing demonstrations. In addition to the daytime activities both Saturday & Sunday, there will also be an evening firing demonstration Saturday.

Explore the lives and accomplishments of African American North Carolinians from the antebellum period to the Civil Rights era on an African American History Tour Saturday at the North Carolina Museum of History.

The North Carolina Museum of Art offers Meet Your Museum Tours of the 164 acre campus and Weekend Friendly family Tours both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday morning's movie at the Holly Springs Cultural Center will be Finding Nemo. Bring the kids back Monday for Jetsons: The Movie.

The North Carolina Museum of History will hold a film screening of Rosenwald Sunday afternoon. Come learn the inspiring story of Julius Rosenwald who never finished high school, became president of Sears, Roebuck & Company and gave away $62 million in his lifetime.

The Tuesday Morning Movie at the Halle Cultural Arts Center will be the Hunchback of Notre Dame.
