Kick the Weekend Off

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences invites you to join them every Thursday night for extended hours and Science Cafe's on a variety of interesting topics. This week they will be discussing Saving the World's Most Endangered Turtles.

Come back to the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences to celebrate Final Friday with the 1990 film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Come early to enjoy food, live music and science stations.

The Halle Cultural Arts Center will be hosting a Family Dance with Traditional Dance Caller, Connie Carringer and a live old-time string band. All experience levels are welcome.

Come out for the 1st annual Rock The Block Party Friday night at Tarboro Road Community Center. There will be a variety of activities including Glitter Tattoos, 'Rock the Block' Pass, Crafts, Photo Booth, Giant Jenga, Checkers, Ker Plunk, 9 Square, Carnival games, Gaga Pit, Basketball Skills, Food trucks and a Raffle.

The Final Friday Cary Art Loop returns to Downtown Cary with extended hours for participating art galleries, restaurants, coffee houses, and other businesses that showcase visual arts, music, and more.

Go on a night hike with a park naturalist to test your sensory skills after dark during Yates Mills by Night as they explore the Signs of Spring Friday.

The North Carolina Museum of Art starts every weekend off in their lobby-turned-lounge. Join them this Friday for music, special plates and drinks at Iris after Dark. You can also stay to watch the 1945 French film Falbalas (Paris Frills).

NC Science Festival and fun at the Fairgrounds

The 9th Annual NC Science Festival runs April 1st through the 30th. There are events statewide all month.

Broadway caliber performances, extraordinary production values and on-time performances in a family atmosphere are the hallmarks of the StarQuest Regionals all weekend at the State Fairgrounds.

Triangle Farms will host a Hunter Jumper Horse Show all weekend at the Fairground's Hunt Horse Complex.

Come meet over 150 Triangle wedding experts and enjoy wedding fashion previews featuring the latest trends in bridal wear and tuxedos Saturday and Sunday at the Fairgrounds for the Southern Bridal Show and Expo.

To round out the events at the Fairgrounds, Vision Cat Club will be hosting a Cat Show featuring feline agility competitions. See cats run an obstacle course for the fastest feline or even try your hand at the sport with available demonstration cats.

Festivities, Museums and Movies

Meet Vietnam veterans, see military equipment, and view personal memorabilia, such as uniforms, weapons, and gear during the Vietnam Experience all weekend at the North Carolina Museum of History. Other highlights include a Field Cross memorial, a display of the state's POW and MIA heroes, and a 1/8-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall. They will also be showing the film, Etchings in Stone, by North Carolina Vietnam veteran Ron Harris.

Come back to the North Carolina Museum of History Sunday for a concert by the Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble.

Do you have an aspiring Veterinarian in your house? Bring them Saturday to the annual NCSU Veterinary School Open House. Take tours of the facility, see lots of live animals and participate in the many hand-on activities.

Please join them Saturday morning at the Halle Cultural Arts Center for the 3rd annual Magic Show with Happy Dan the Magic Man and his friends. The event is a fundraiser for Make-A-Wish NC. In addition to the magic show, there will also be a bake sale sponsored by Cutie Pies--Just Plain Sweet and entertainment at intermission with local band Bach to Rock.

Bring the family and enjoy an afternoon of great music and more than a dozen of the area's favorite food trucks Sunday for a Rodeo on Rosemary in downtown Chapel Hill.

Celebrate National Kite Flying Month by flying a kite Sunday for the Carrboro Annual Kite Fly at Hank Anderson Park.

Jetsons The Movie will be the Monday Morning Movie at the Holly Springs Cultural Center.

How to Train Your Dragon will be the Tuesday Morning Movie at the Halle Cultural Arts Center.

Join them for an award winning film on the first Wednesday night of every month at the Halle Cultural Arts Center. This week's will feature the award winning film, Creed II.

Spring into a Park

Discover the fascinating world of Pond Critters as you scoop in the pond to observe who lives there up close and then view some of the tiniest critters under a microscope Saturday morning at Harris Lake County Park.

Being Blind as a Bat is a phrase that is often heard, but are bats really blind? If they are, how do they catch their food in the dark of night? Join a Falls Lake ranger to find out Saturday morning.

Join them on Saturday at Historic Oak View County Park for a History Hike through the old farmstead.

Historic Yates Mill Pond County Park will be offering Half Hour Tours of the restored mill on Saturday and Mill and Local History Tours on Sunday.

Eno River State Park invites you to join their Spring Hiking Series. This week they will explore the Flat River on a search for wildflowers.
