Spring is now in full swing! This weekend is full of festivals and fun for the whole family.

The Weekend Fun Starts Early

Thursday's Science Cafe at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences will feature Science Trivia. Come back Friday for a Teen Science Cafe on Tales of a Herpetologist

First Friday in Raleigh features extended hours and special programing at the City of Raleigh Museum (COR) and Marbles Kids Museum. Many of the local restaurants and galleries host specials as well. Look for the First Friday Gallery Walk flags throughout Downtown.

First Friday at the North Carolina Museum of History features LIVE! One Giant Leap: North Carolina to the Moon [and Back], a celebration of their exhibit opening.

The North Carolina Museum of Art invites you to enjoy music, small plates and special drinks at Iris after Dark. Stay for the 2018 movie Won"t You Be My Neighbor.

Festivals & Fun

Celebrate Frogs and Clean Water with games, crafts, educational activities and food at Crowder Park's annual Frog Fest.

The JC Raulston Arboretum hosts their Annual Birdhouse Competition and Raulston Blooms Festival this weekend.

Come on out to enjoy the 2018 Apex PEAK-TIQUE Antiques and Collectibles Festival both Friday and Saturday.

The Knightdale Spring Carnival runs through Sunday with traditional carnival rides and festival food.

The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival at Durham Central Park includes outdoor screenings and Food Truck Round up both Friday and Saturday evenings.

Saturday is Dirt Day in Downtown Wake Forest. Kids will have a blast playing in the sand, planting herbs for home windowsills, and exploring trucks from S.T. Wooten Corporation. Adults will have the chance to learn about the newest techniques in gardening and composting, check out the newest in outdoor activity gear, and visit with a variety of vendors offering an array of products and insight

Celebrate Spring Green Day on Saturday in Morrisville with document shredding, electronics recycling, cooking oil recycling & litter sweep.

The UNC Science Expo features over 100 hands-on activities and science demonstrations lead by STEM students, researchers, and practitioners from UNC-Chapel Hill and the Town of Chapel Hill. Come build your own squishy circuit neuron model, test your mettle in the Department of Psychology's "cold water challenge", take a look at insects under an electron microscope, make your own ice cream, and so much more!

See what happens Sunday when Carrboro closes a street to cars and reclaims the space with all sorts of other car-free activities like biking, climbing, and dancing during the Open Street Festival.

Downtown Wake Forest will host their first Food Truck Rodeo of the year on Sunday. In addition to the food trucks, there will also be a Kids Zone, beer tent and live music.

More fun at the Parks

As part of the NC Science Festival, Harris Lake will be exploring the Science of Fire Friday evening.

Join Lake Crabtree's bird enthusiast, Vernon, for an easy walk while looking and listening for Birds Saturday morning. Also Saturday, help clean up Lake Crabtree's shoreline and other areas around the park during the Big Sweep.

Historic Yates Mill County Park features Saturdays at the Old Mill Tours. Sunday, they will be offering Mill Heritage & Local History Tours.

Jordan lake will host a Family Fishing Fiesta Sunday with knot tying, casting, fishing, and cleaning fish, as well as information on fish management, aquatic stewardship, boating and water safety, and fishing regulations. Food Trucks will be on hand or bring a picnic lunch to enjoy.

Sunday's Spring Hike at West Point on the Eno will explore the Panther Branch Natural Area to see seasonal wildflowers.

The State Fairgrounds

The North Carolina State Fairgrounds hosts the spring edition of the Southern Ideal Home Show, a Precious Gem & Mineral Show and an All-Arabian Horse Show.
