This weekend there are some fun festivals, several movies and a wide variety of concerts so no matter what you're in the mood for, we can get you out enjoying your summer weekend and Fathers day

Twilight Summer Hours return to Marbles Kids Museum every Thursday through the summer with extended hours and reduced admission.

Also Thursday at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, the Science Cafe will explore Where There's Smoke, about wildfires.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will be the featured flick Thursday night after dark in Downtown Garner accompanied by the food truck The Pyramids and brewery Brüeprint Brewing Company.

The Down Under Concert at the American Tobacco Campus brings the Lounge Doctors to the American Tobacco Campus Thursday evening for a mix of Jazz, Rock and Blues.

Festivals & History

The Peak City Pig Fest is back to Historic Downtown Apex this weekend. Sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society, teams from all over the country will come to compete against each other for prize money cooking chicken, ribs, beef brisket and pork. Along with great food, there will be live music, a kid's area, pig races, and a corn hole tournament. The festivities actually start Friday night and continue through Saturday.

Join Lake Crabtree County Park Saturday for their annual Pollinator Festival. There'll be lots of fun stuff to do like scavenger hunts with prizes, crafts to make, and games to play, as well as local experts to answer your questions.

Durham will host a Civil Rights Heritage Walking Tour Saturday morning focusing on the sites in downtown Durham that were important during the 1950s and 60s Civil Rights movement.

Durham's Juneteenth Celebration will take place this Saturday in Downtown Durham. There will be entertainment, vendors, health fair, children's village and a marketplace.

Saturday, Durham Central Park will also host the 4th Annual Triangle Community Band Festival featuring the Cary Town Band, Durham Community Concert Band, Holly Springs Community Band and The Village Band.

Its Dads Day at Marbles Kids Museum. Celebrate dad while you create a special project together.

Join them for an afternoon of North Carolina stories told through fabric, word, and crafts for Saturday's Quilt-In at the NC Museum of History.

The North State Toy & Hobby Show comes to the North Carolina State Fairgrounds all weekend.

The Wake Forest Charity Car Show will take place along South White Street in historic downtown Wake Forest Saturday.

Also for car lovers, the Bull City Cruise-In takes place at the American Tobacco Campus Saturday with over 100 cars and trucks on display, food trucks and family fun.

The North Carolina Zoo is a leader in conservation programs in Africa. Discover how they support endangered animals and how a visit to the Zoo helps save wildlife worldwide on Saturday when they present how they are Saving Species Across Africa.

Iris After Dark returns to the North Carolina Museum of Art with music, small plates and special drinks.

The 2nd Friday Artwalk takes place in Carborro, Chapel Hill with live music, food, activities, hands-on art demonstrations, discounts, and more. Also in Carrboro Friday night, the Freight Train Blues Music Series brings Cool John Ferguson, Pat "Mother Blues" Cohen, and Cookie McGee to the stage.

Fridays on the Front Porch of the Carolina Inn features local band Big Fat Gap and food trucks 454 Grill and Hibachi Jeffery"s Grill.

Friday Night on White is back in Downtown Wake Forest with the band Love Tribe.

Holly Springs kicks off their Summer at the Springs Outdoor Concert series with fan favorite Beatlesque, a four-piece Beatles tribute band.

Violet Bell takes the stage Saturday evening at Bond Park. Come enjoy her original Americana, woven from threads of folk, soul, bluegrass, psychedelic, and classical music.

Milagro Saints will kick off the Raleigh Sunday in the Park Concerts at Fred Fletcher Park.

Movies

Get out a blanket and the bug spray and head on out to watch an evening movie under the stars. There are even more great movies hitting the big screen this weekend!

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will be playing on the big screen in Downtown Garner after dark Thursday.

Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation comes to the big screen Friday night after dark at Regency Park.

The Monday Morning Movie at the Holly Springs Cultural Center will be Lego Batman.

Get Outside at the Parks

Come have some Flag Day Fun Friday at Historic Yates Mill County Park! Explore the more than 30 national flag designs that have been used over time and learn to cut out a five-pointed star like Betsy Ross.

Come back to Yates Mill Saturday for some Country Dancing in the Mill Yard and to enjoy the monthly Corn Grinding Demonstrations and Soap Making and Butter Churning both Saturday and Sunday.

Hike 2.5 miles with a Occoneechee Mountain ranger Friday afternoon and look for Ferns & Flowers to identify

Learn what Trees need to grow, and how to ID common trees by their fresh summer foliage. Enjoy a walk in the park and get acquainted with some of the trees in the park Saturday at Blue Jay Point County Park.

Hop, skip, and jump over to Crowder County Park as they celebrate Father's Day on Sunday! Bring the whole family out for an afternoon of games related to nature. Afterwards we'll cool off with some refreshments.

Tuesday is National Go Fishing Day. Come out to Historic Yates Mill Pond County Park to fish the old-fashioned way. They"ll provide a cane pole, tackle, and bait, along with basic instructions and assistance with identifying fish species.

Historic Oak View Park will be hosting the Summer Food Service Program again this year. From June 17th through August 9rd, they will be serving lunch to all children 18 and younger every Monday through Friday. There will also be fun activities each day!
